Just yesterday, a woman in the UK was locked in a cupboard under the stairs by her own daughter. What's really amusing about this piece of news is that, by the looks of it, the woman's daughter is merely a toddler.

That's right, a grown woman got locked in a cupboard by a one-year-old child who, dare we say it, can't even tie her own shoelaces or enjoy lunch without making a complete fool of herself and dropping food all over the floor.

The woman was saved after she alerted her neighbors

It is understood that this most bizarre incident occurred in Plymstock, a civil parish and commuter suburb of Plymouth in the county of Devon in the UK. Apparently, it was around 10:30 on the morning of January 2 that the toddler locked her mother in the cupboard.

For the time being, it is unclear how exactly it was that the one-year-old child managed to pull this stunt. One can only assume that the toddler simply hit the door and forced it shut after her mother knowingly and willingly entered the cupboard.

The Plymouth Herald tells us that, after figuring out what had happened, the woman, whose identity has not yet been made public, started screaming at the top of her lungs and pleading for help. Luckily for her, some of her neighbors heard her and alerted authorities.

All's well that ends well

The firefighters who handled this case say that, to reach the woman, they had to use a ladder and several tools. Eventually, they managed to pull the mother from the cupboard and reunite her with her one-year-old daughter.

“A fire appliance was mobilized from Plymstock fire station and, on arrival, confirmed there was an adult locked in the under stairs cupboard as well as a one-year-old child locked in the property.”

“Crews used small tools and a triple extension ladder to gain access and release the adult from the cupboard,” a spokesperson for the local fire department in Plymstock told the press in an interview.

In case anyone was wondering, the woman was not in any way injured while locked inside the cupboard or during the rescue operation. Still, chances are that she will from now on be a tad more attentive to what her daughter might be up to.
