One Piece: Grand Adventure for the Sony PlayStation 2 and the Nintendo GameCube is an English exclusive sequel to the original game, One Piece Grand Battle! (known in Japan as One Piece: Grand Battle Rush!). Based on the popular Anime and Manga series, One Piece, Grand Adventure contains more characters, levels and features, some of which were cut out of the U.S. localization, due to the fact that the televised airings hadn't revealed certain characters. One of the new features in Grand Adventure is Adventure mode, which allows you to sail the Grand Line and visit various islands from the One Piece anime, similar to The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (though unlike The Wind Waker, you will be able to select certain "hotspots" and sail there automatically).
On these islands, the character will engage in combat against other One Piece characters, which, if defeated, may join your character's crew, or play in various mini-games. In the fights, characters gain experience points and can level up, where the player can level up certain stats of the character (HP, attack, defense, etc.).

Unlockables
Buggy To unlock Buggy as a Captain in Adventure Mode, in Luffy's Adventure Mode, defeat Crocodile in Alubarna on the Alabasta Kingdom Sea Area, and receive the rank "Top Pirate in Town", and before or after the credits, you will receive Buggy as a Playable Captain in Adventure Mode.
Crocodile To unlock Crocodile as a playable captain in Adventure Mode, in Luffy's Adventure Mode, defeat Crocodile in Alubarna on the Alabasta Kingdom Sea Area Map and after you defeat him, get the rank "Top Pirate on the Island". Before or after the credits, you will receive Crocodile as a Playable Captain in Adventure Mode.
Secret Characters Chaser - In Chaser's adventure mode, level him up and after you unleash his Secret Attack, he will be unlocked
Eneru - In Crocodile's adventure mode, get Eneru as your ally in the Jaya area and win a battle using him
Kuina - Recruit her in Chaser's adventure mode. Then, continue to level her up and once you unleash her Secret Attack, you will unlock her.
Mihawk - In Chaser's (Smoker) adventure mode, after recruiting Mihawk, win a battle using him
Mr. 2 Bon Clay - In Crocodile's adventure mode, get Mr. 2 as your ally and win a battle using him
Nico Robin - In Luffy's adventure mode, get her as your ally at the end and win a battle using her
Ohm - In Crocodile's adventure mode, get Ohm as your ally in the Jaya area and win a battle using him
Shanks - In Buggy's adventure mode, recruit Shanks and then win a battle using him
Trace (Ace) - In Buggy's adventure mode, recruit him in Drum Island, then win a battle using him
Zeff - In Chaser's adventure mode, level him up, and once you unleash his Secret Attack, he will be unlocked.
Sound Test To unlock the sound test, get all of the cards by playing Arena mode in Grand Battle mode.
Ussop To unlock Ussop as a Playable Captain in adventure Mode, defeat the final boss in Luffy's, Buggy's, Crocodile's and Chaser's Adventure Modes. After the credits of the last Adventure Mode(No order is required), you will unlock Ussop as a Playable Captain. In Ussop's Adenture Mode, you can use make a team of any Pirates you have unlocked!
