We already know that e-books are very popular reading material, they have to be if so many e-readers are selling, but it's another thing to see exactly how many people read them.

As it happens, the Pew Research Center conducted a study that led to the following conclusion: 21 percent of US adults has read an e-book (or more) in the past year.

Also, 15 percent of the people surveyed read from an e-book every day.

That's a fourfold increase compared to two years ago, and with e-reader owners known to be avid readers, this means that authors are in no danger of losing the interest of the masses.

As if that wasn't enough, Nook and Kindle owners have read 24 books on average over the past 12 months (paper lovers have only managed to read 15 or so).

With e-books being read on various sorts of other devices (tablets, PCs, etc.), the numbers can only grow from here.
