This newly-announced CD receiver comes with all the top-notch heritage from Onkyo and takes things even further: it boasts an eye-pleasing shape and finish, while at the same time retaining ease of use and extreme functionality of all Onkyo products; if quality with great looks is what you're after, then this one might be just the right thing for you.

This tabletop CD/tuner combo is one of the truly inspired mixtures between the modern, high-tech features on the inside and the stylish, retro look of the casing; as people start to look more and more for retro-styled gear, the Onkyo CBX-300 seems to have appeared with a perfect timing and it brings together harmoniously pieces from both worlds. We're talking about the glossy plastic casing with faux wood elements, cloth grille, neatly combined with an elegant slot-loading CD player and a iPod dock, letting you experience more than you'd expect from such a piece of tech.

The optical drive is capable to handle both audio CDs and home-burned collections of MP3 or WMA tracks, thus letting you experience a richer audio world with your favorite tunes. At the same time you get the iPod docking station to play the content of your Apple player and recharge it at the same time, so it will be ready to go at any moment. The FM tuner can store presets and also has an alarm function to gently wake you up with your fav morning radio show or a special inspirational song.

Retailing for as low as $230 in major online outlets, the Onkyo CBX-300 will deliver you a neat sonic response, with its Active Bass Control and 80mm OMF diaphragm speakers with Aero Acoustic Drive technology for a natural, lifelike sound.

Had one for a couple of years (CBX300) - very good all around little unit - wish it had A LITTLE more bass punch but that's OK - & has good AM radio reception if you like to listen to some talk shows like I do. (from Texas, USA)
