One More Street View Car Spotted, One More Google Maps Update

- This time in Knox, Indiana

By: Bogdan Popa, Security and Search Engines Editor

The Street View car which is supposed to be used for capturing street level panoramas to be included in Google Maps was spotted a few days ago in Knox, Indiana. Obviously, this makes us think the Mountain View company prepares new updates for Google Maps as similar vehicles were seen in other
cities included in the web-based service. According to Search Engine Land, Knox, Indiana has a population of only 3,721 which is pretty curios because the super giant was focused only on large towns. Today's car is a Chevrolet Cobalt, just like the ones spotted in the past and equipped with lots of high-tech cameras used for capturing photos.

A few weeks ago, it was rumored that Google plans to expand Street View into Canada, a country where the authorities warned the super giant of several laws which might be infringed. According to that time's reports, if Google wants to bring Google Maps and Street View into Canada, the company has to blur people's faces as well as car registration numbers and other details in order to avoid infringing residents' privacy.

Google wasn't afraid of this matter and seems to get focused on Canada even if the Google car was spotted in different corners of the world. It was even rumored that Street View might evolve into Europe, the United Kingdom being the first location targeted by the web-based mapping tool. Some UK residents even spotted the Google car near London but the Mountain View company didn't confirm the rumors, avoiding commenting on them.

The Street View evolution might support 2 Google goals: first of all it would bring street level panoramas to Europeans. On the other side, Google Maps would support the company's evolution which strives to expand into Europe, a continent in which the world's giants are aiming to do major investments.
