The Mountain View giant confirmed the acquisition of GrandCentral Communications, a company that introduced a revolutionary mobile system on the market. If you didn't know, GrandCentral allows users to track all their phone numbers and voice mailboxes from a single account without having to check them periodically.

Moreover, the account is accessible from a web-based interface that makes it extremely easy to use. It's not quite clear if Google wants to step into the phone market but the search giant said that "GrandCentral's technology fits well into Google's efforts to provide services that enhance the collaborative exchange of information between our users."

The new owner of GrandCentral mentioned that the current customers of the company continue to receive support and uninterrupted access to the service even if the firm is now a Google product.

"We're pleased to announce that we have acquired GrandCentral Communications, a company that provides services for managing your voice communications. GrandCentral is an innovative service that lets users integrate all of their existing phone numbers and voice mailboxes into one account, which can be accessed from the web. We're really excited to welcome the GrandCentral team to Google. While we're moving their technology over to Google's network, a limited number of invitations will be available to register for a GrandCentral beta account" Wesley Chan, Product Manager, said today.

This acquisition was first speculated last week when it was rumored that Google might be interested in the solutions offered by GrandCentral. The company refused to comment the upcoming plans of the Mountain View giant concerning the recently-acquired solution and didn't provide any terms of the transaction.

However, a limited number of the users are still able to register for the beta testings of the solution but there is no deadline mentioned in the press release published by the two companies.
