We must admit that we had quite little expectations of one day seeing some loudspeakers mixed up with the cuckoo clock technology. But little as they were, these expectations have been fulfilled, to say the least, as designer Stephane Vigny has presented his latest creation, the Loudspeaker Cuckoo Clock, a piece of gadgetry as weird and disturbing as it gets. We're not at all sure in which kind of interior settings this contraption would fit as you need more than your traditional décor to be able to fully integrate such a thing.
Now, things are as clear as the name of the gadget says in such plain words: a clock equipped with the Swiss Cuckoo mechanism, all fitted inside a large floorstanding loudspeaker cabinet.
The original description is not as clear and revealing as we'd have loved to find it, and this is why we're not sure whether you can throw a serious party using these speakers or they're only a piece of clock work. Judging by the size of the three drivers in these peculiar loudspeakers, they should be able to drive a sound big enough to rock the entire room, if not the entire house. Yet, we think that some future specs could shed some light on this case.

What we can tell you for sure is that each of these speakers is attached to an extensible arm and can actually pop out of the wooden cabinet in pretty much the same manner as the old-time cuckoo would. You can choose between having all the drivers pop out or just one. Apparently, the drivers are cuckoo-ing as they get out of the “box,” each within its own frequency range: this means you can get a woofer cuckoo, a midrange cuckoo and an HF one. Now, don't even think to ask what the use of a crossover cuckoo sound is, because this is a matter of perspective in the end.
We'll just leave things as they are and add that the idea is neat, and maybe further details could clear things up a bit as to what's going on in there. Because there is something going on in there, definitely.
We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed.
