One of two teen hikers who had gone missing in Trabuco Canyon in Southern California's Cleveland National Forest has been found, reports say.

19-year-old Nicholas Cendoya is safe and sound, St. Louis Post-Dispatch informs. He has been transported via helicopter to a clinic after being discovered at around 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

Sheriff's Lt. Jason Park explains that Cendoya has been unable to provide information on the hiker accompanying him at this point.

He is currently recovering at Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo from non-life-threatening wounds, but he is still in distress.

“He was extremely confused and disoriented,” Park describes.

Cendoya went missing on Sunday, March 31, while traveling with 18-year-old Kyndall Jack, who has not been found as of yet.

They called 911 on Sunday, but could only give little info as the cellphone battery gave out instants after the call went through.

According to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. John Muir, rescue teams were able to trace said call to a reception tower and pin down the teens' approximate location.

The data they provided in the emergency call has also been taken into consideration, with the hikers saying that they are near Jack's car.

They mentioned that they only strayed 1 mile (1.6 km) from the car, but, even as the vehicle was recovered, the teens were nowhere to be found.

“When you're disoriented because you're out of breath and tired and you think you're one mile away, you could be potentially three or four miles away. [...] There's a lot of ground to cover,” Muir comments.

Kyndall's mother left her a message written down on the car's windshield. She told her to hang tight and reminded her that they wouldn't be calling off the search anytime soon.

“Kyndall - we r looking wont stop love you mom,” she wrote, adding a heart.
