A study recently published in the American Heart Association journal Hypertension says that those suffering with high blood pressure might experience improvements in their overall health condition should they take up the habit of indulging in one daily cup of beetroot juice.

Thus, it is being said that beetroot juice can compel one's blood vessel walls to relaxe. As a result, blood flow is improved and high blood pressure can be brought down by as much as 7%.

The specialists who have studied how beetroot juice affects an individual's blood pressure believe that said vegetable is beneficial to one's health because of its containing high concentrations of naturally occurring nitrate.

“Our hope is that increasing one’s intake of vegetables with a high dietary nitrate content, such as green leafy vegetables or beetroot, might be a lifestyle approach that one could easily employ to improve cardiovascular health,” study lead author Amrita Ahluwalia, Ph.D said.

This particular researcher into how beetroot juice might benefit those suffering with high blood pressure was carried out with the help of 15 volunteers.
