The SID Display Week may not be the greatest of electronics show, especially with Computex following soon after, but there are definitely some things worthy of note being showcased there, such as a particular Toshiba drawing board.

One might be hard-pressed to find something good to call the “R&D project” that Toshiba has put on display at the SID Display Week.

While the glasses-free, 8-inch 3D liquid crystal display is easy enough to categorize as a potential tablet screen, this other invention is a bit less common, so to speak.

Granted, 3D panels of the above size, especially glasses-free ones, are not common either, but they are still fit for a familiar set of tasks.

The E Ink-using gadget that the folks over at Engadget set eyes on, however, is intended for something else altogether, probably e-readers or note-taking pads.

It is a so-called encapsulated product that features a touchscreen over the e-paper, touchscreen which can recognize a special sort of stylus input.

In fact, the stylus support is the key fact here, since it allows one to take notes, draw or scribble anything and then just erase it.

More specifically, by pressing a single button, the pen could be recognized as an eraser, allowing one to wipe away anything from the screen as though one were erasing a piece of paper.

The ones that examined the unnamed device found out another few things about it, such as the presence of a proprietary charging port for the built-in battery, a microSD card slot and an on/off switch.

It is also described as very light, meaning that it may become a promising presence in the making of future e-readers or other gadgets that use greyscale panels.

For those that need to see in order to believe, the team was able to shoot a short video of the item in action.
