One Big Pile of Almost-Free Software Coming with Tracktion 3

- Mackie-demoed Tracktion 3

By: Florin Tibu, Editor, Software Reviews

There you go, Mackie's Tracktion 3 is on the go: it has recently been demoed by Mackie and the software bundles have been prepared already, from the simple Project Bundle, through the Ultimate Bundle Upgrade and finally to the Ultimate Bindle containing a really big number of cool additional programs.

This could actually be the secondary news as the most important thing is that Mackie has made a major leap in cross-platforming: Tracktion 3 is THE tool which will finally unite Apple and PC users! It will handle Apple sessions and samples
with the same ease and providing the same operations and performance as the usual Windows loops. Yes, loops: Tracktion 3 will support looping and if this was not enough, it also has a built-in browser which will definitely make all your work way easier.

The browser is a state-of-the art tool which will let you group and also search for loops according to criteria like instruments, genre and other descriptions. Looping in Tracktion 3 is now even more accurate because the software will play the selected loop at either your project's BPM or your project's pitch, as you prefer, thus making the "integration" of a new loop in the "whole" easy and fast.

VST, ReWire 2.0 support and QuickTime video integration complete a full array of technologies now supported by the Tracktion 3. Adding the extensive value of side-software like SampleTank, DrumCore, Garritan Personal Orchestra or NI Kontakt 2Player (and a whole lot more) gives you a better image on what the new version of Mackie's Tracktion is capable of.

No more crashed recordings, nor in live situations, not at home and not anywhere! No more accidentally dropping your phone on the keyboard and halting the perfect take and no more stops due to your cat stepping graciously on the PC and ruining all (as you, cat owners out there know very well they will do). You can now customize your own set of keys whose pressing only will make the system stop: as I've said, no more waiting on the PC as you are playing in a club and want to do some recordings – just press Rec and see to your other jobs!

MIDI editing, audio clip editing and a lot of other enhancements based on the time lime in Tracktion 3 allow the user to gain full control of the pieces which need various corrections while the sound-corrections are attainable by means of the awesome additions to the Tracktion 3-code: all sorts of filters and other serious softwares which come inside the box will make your Tracktion 3 -equipped PC a very serious DAW, capable of producing the largest range of music, from hip-hop to death metal. Amplitube LE, LinPLug synths, Mackie mixing and mastering tools, 250 LinPlug drumkits and 2,000 MIDI samples and so many more go together in the same package just for you.

There is no reason not to sound close to perfection when working with Tracktion 3. Stay tuned and get your hands on it as it is NOT TO BE MISSED! Especially that it has been developed for exceptional and unmatched use with the Mackie COntrol Universal/Expander Pro or Mackie Control C4!
