"Hypocrisy" should be named "word of the year". Seriously, since we have been seeing so many celebrities making fools of themselves at so many award ceremonies, it's about time someone set up a competition that gives prizes to words that are frequently used to describe celebrity behaviors. And this year (as always) it's been all about saying one thing and acting in exactly the opposite way.
One example out of a million: the foul-mouther, recently slimmed down British singer Lily Allen, who recently hit out at Hollywood's notorious party girls for setting a bad example. "I don't understand this idea that people like Britney Spears and Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan are regarded as role models for young girls. I mean, just look at them - why would you want to look up to them? What happened to mothers, sisters and aunts as role models?"
That almost sounds convincing. I said almost because only this weekend, Lily had to be literally carried out of a bar, into a car and finally into a bed, having brought herself to a state in which she was totally incapable of performing the very simple act of walking herself. At the beginning of the night, everything seemed fine, with annoying Lily showing off her slim-line physique, high-waisted gray skirt and baggy vest outfit and being all smiles as she arrived at Shoreditch House to attend the launch of Fashion House Chloe's summer 2008 collection.
However, by the end of the night the singer ditched her recent string of well-behaved public outings and took her best friend, T4 presenter Miquita Oliver, and Harrods heiress Camilla to the Groucho Club in Soho until 2am...the result being that the "Smile" singer was unable to walk out on her own. And what do you know, Lily behaved exactly like one of those party-loving girls she has slammed a short while back. Ouch! So...what can I say - in fact, my piece of advice for Lily hasn't changed in a couple of months. Mouth closed, less alcohol, when leaving a club make sure you can still walk. Pretty simple, right? Well, I happen to know for a fact it works wonders. So, how about it?
