Mad Catz and OnLive have teamed up in order to launch cloud-streamed games on the TV using the Mojo microconsole, aiming to bring a slew of triple-A games to bigger screens through the OnLive Android app.

Microconsoles have not been particularly stellar sellers so far, but the two companies are hoping that this will change in the future and that the overall user experience will improve, with a new generation of technology.

Gamers can make use of OnLive to play big PC or console games even if the device they are using, which in this case is the Mojo microconsole, doesn't have anywhere near the horsepower needed to run them natively.

The way this works is that the microconsole connects to OnLive's cloud servers where the games are being run, and then those servers stream the video back to the device in real time, and the device displays the images on monitors of TVs as if it was running the game.

Mad Catz and OnLive have announced the completion of the joint development effort to optimize the OnLive Android app for the Mad Catz Mojo microconsole, and that the Mojo can now stream PC games from OnLive's high-end servers.

OnLive currently has more than 250 triple-A games available in their game service bundle, the PlayPack, and users can also make use of the new CloudLift service that the company is offering in order to make games playable on multiple platforms.

"We designed Mojo to a high specification, as we conceived the platform to grow and evolve, encompassing new features and services over time. With the new generation of Cloud Gaming that OnLive heralds, gamers can now play triple-A and PC Steam-purchased games in high-definition through their Mojo."

"With our dedicated C.T.R.L.R, we can move the high-end gaming experience away from the desktop PC and into the living room," says Darren Richardson, the president and chief executive officer of Mad Catz.

The OnLive Android app has been customized to work seamlessly with Mojo and the Mad Catz C.T.R.L.R. Mobile Gamepad, part of the Mad Catz GameSmart family.

"One of our best features is that OnLive brings big games to small devices. By installing the optimized OnLive Android app, users have access to the latest triple-A games from publishers like Codemasters, Deep Silver, Devolver Digital, Gaijin Entertainment, Kalypso, Paradox, and Warner Bros," adds Rick Sanchez, the vice president of product and marketing at OnLive.

The two companies have also released a demo video, showcasing the use of OnLive with the Mojo microconsole to seamlessly play Codemasters' Grid 2 via cloud streaming.
