Google is expected to unveil its very long in the making music download store. It's been working on this for a year and a half and, last we heard, it still only had music from two of the big four music labels.
Thankfully, it
seems that Sony Music Entertainment is now on board too, joining Universal Music Group and EMI, which Universal recently acquired.
But that still leaves out Warner Music Group, who is said to be concerned about pricing and, yes,
piracy, the imaginary problem that has been holding back the recording industry for the past decade.
Three out of four looks a lot better, but it still means that the Google music store will launch without plenty of popular artists and music.
And users are not going to care why, if they can't find the music they want they'll just go back to iTunes, without a second thought. Then again, how much longer can Google wait.
