Video game publisher has revealed information about pre-order bonuses and downloadable content packs for the upcoming Japanese role playing game Final Fantasy XIII-2, including the traditional ultimate boss battle, Omega.

The DLC, which so far has only been confirmed for the Japanese version of the game, will include new costumes for characters like Sarah and Noel.

The costume pack will be separate from the one which includes the Omega boss battle and also allows players to recruit the monster to their own party after managing to defeat him.

Sources are saying that the content will also be launched on Western markets with Amazon offering the Omega DLC pack as a pre-order bonus.

GameStop is also giving away a free alternate costume for main character Serah for all those who are willing to put down money for Final Fantasy XIII-2 before the actual launch date while BestBuy is adding a novella called Final Fantasy XIII- Episode i, which is supposed to detail all the events that take place between the two games in the XIII universe.

Square Enix has said that Final Fantasy XIII-2 will be launched in Japan before the end of the year and will arrive on Western markets during the first few months of 2012.

The game will explore the same universe as its predecessor, making it only the second time in the long running franchise that a true sequel was delivered to fans.

Players will get a chance to revisit a number of locations and see how events and the flow of time have changed them and a number of old characters will return.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 will also use new mechanics for the combat system, solving all the issues that players had when playing the previous installment.

Square Enix is hoping that the game will bring back some respect for the franchise, which has been affected by the problems of the Final Fantasy XIV MMO.
