The Lutetia is not as bulky as other products on the market

Lots and lots of smartwatches have been released into the wild, but even if these products come with curved, round or plain square-ish forms, they all have something in common.

They are way too big to look aesthetically pleasing on a lady’s wrist (maybe the Moto 360 is an exception, MAYBE).

Smartwatch manufacturer Omate has picked up on the lack of time-keeping wearables suited for women, so it has taken it upon itself to fill the niche with something that suited a more delicate complexion.

Lutetia is an elegant smartwatch

Omate is blending an analog face with an extra notification-bound display with the Lutetia, which is a smartwatch that adopts an almost near-circular form factor.

The primary display is an always-on transflective LCD covered with a curved, sapphire-coated glass piece.

As for straps, they are offered in premium silver, rose gold or plain gold variations and are made of shiny stainless steel with matching beaded wristband. Looking at the first images detailing the smartwatch, we can say it does look quite stylish and feminine indeed.

As for hardware specs, the Omate Lutetia takes advantage of a MediaTek Aster MT2502 chip and runs on the Nucleus RTOS. The battery inside should sustain a life cycle of up to a week on a single charge.

Unlike offerings such as the Samsung Gear S, the Omate Lutetia can’t be used as a standalone device or smartphone replacement.

The Omate Lutetia acts as a notification center

It has been designed to be paired with your handset and rely notifications from it. This is its main focus, but the watch also acts like a pedometer and a stopwatch and offers access to music controls, weather information, timer and voice control features.

Omate officials claim the Lutetia is not meant to compete with mainstream smartwatches like Pebble, LG G Watch or Samsung Gear S, but with similar products from fashionable brands such as Calvin Klein, Guess and D&G.

The Lutetia, which was named after the Roman name of ancient Paris, will debut tomorrow, but it is already available for pre-order with a starting price of $169 / €133.

The first of you to order the 1,000 pieces will have the pleasure of receiving a “limited edition” watch that will ship out with unique codes engraved on the back. So you better hurry up, ladies, if you don’t want to miss your opportunity of being one of the kind.

Omate offers an affordable option in terms of fashionable wearables, as opposed to Intel and its MICA smart bracelet which sells for whopping $1,000 / €761, making it more of an haute-couture product than anything else.
