If adult consumers are bombarded with numerous wearable offerings these days, it makes sense that some companies will try to target kids too, doesn't it?

Shenzhen-based Kickstarter project Omate is apparently working hand in hand with Huawei to develop a GPS-enabled tracker for children. And now the first images of the TrueSmart prototype have appeared online.

Omate CEO Laurent LePen posted a collage of images detailing the new kiddie-friendly smartwatch on his Google+ account.

There’s no information regarding the specifications of the wearable, but we can see in the picture that the watch comes with a pinkish plastic strap and a pretty tiny display that shows time and date.

The main use of the Huawei kids’ smartwatch will be GPS tracking, but the device will also have GSM connectivity. The Google+ post actually says that this is a “wearable mobile phone designed for kids”.

GPS tracking will allow children and parents to always remain connected, so the smartwatch might alleviate the worries of not knowing where your child is.

At first, the device will be launched in China and will be sold through China Unicorn. Details about an international launch haven’t been offered yet, but the Omate team will probably roll out the smartwatch onto other markets too.
