The release adds support for the VF-4 viewfinder, and isn’t suitable for the E-P1 device

Olympus has released several firmware versions targeted at its Pen series digital cameras, except for the E-P1 that doesn’t have an accessory port.

Specifically speaking, the package is developed for the E-P2, E-P3, E-PM1, and E-PM2 cameras, as well as the E-PL1, E-PL2, E-PL3, and E-PL5 pen series devices. In addition to that, the E-M5 digital camera is also compatible, although it’s included in the OM-D device series.

The release adds support for the new VF-4 viewfinder, and for some of the cameras, it improves the stability of the touch panel operation during playback. Another aspect that I must highlight is that the automatic display switching is not supported by the eye sensor.

As for installing the firmware, bear in mind that for the E-P3, E-PL3, and E-PM1, the firmware update process doesn’t complete until the OK message is shown on the camera’s display – so make sure you don’t interrupt it.

Furthermore, if the E-M5 device is to be updated, it’s required to apply the 1.3 (if the current version is 1.0 or 1.1) or 1.4 (if version 1.2 is already installed) firmware version before upgrading to the latest one.

That being said, from the links below, follow the first one if you have a Pen camera (and afterwards choose the one that best describes your camera model), or the second one if you own the E-M5 device.
