Earlier today, I told you Olympus launched the SH-1 camera which brings to the table top notch image stabilization feats users could have previously gotten a hold with just by using the company’s interchangeable-lens products.
Well Olympus has also launched the new Stylus Tough TG-3 compact camera. This is a rugged camera boasting attractive macro photography capabilities (via CNET).
The Olympus Stylus Tough TG-3 comes bundling a 16-megapixel 1/2.3-inch BSI CMOS sensor. Under the hood there’s a TruePic VII processor and the camera comes equipped with a 3-inch 460k-dot LCD on the rear. However, those who were hoping for touch-screen capabilities are going to be disappointed here.
Other interesting feats you’ll be finding onboard this model is built-in wireless, GPS, elevation sensors and an e-compass. The Tough TG-3 takes advantage of the fastest-in-class 4x 25-100mm equivalent f/2.0-4.9 lens.
There’s a new microscope mode that will allow users to take macro shots with the subject being just 10 mm / 0.3 inches away.
Because this is a rugged camera, the Tough TG-3 is waterproof (up to 50 feet / 15 m), freeze proof (14°F / -10°C ), shockproof (to drops up to 7ft / 2 m) as well as crushproof (up to 220 pounds / 99 kg).
The TG-3 will start shipping out to interested customers in June, will sell for $350 / €255 a pop and will be made available in red and black paint jobs.
