Olympus is holding an event on the above-mentioned date

The Olympus PEN-EPL7 camera has been heavily rumored for quite some time now. At some point after the price and the preliminary specs of the device got leaked into the wild, it became apparent that the device will soon be upon us.

As it happens, we now have the date for you. Olympus has started sending out invites for an event scheduled to take place on August 30 saying that people present there will be given the chance to test some “new PEN-series products.”

According to Olympus itself, two new products from the PEN series will see the light of day on the date mentioned above. And surely, one of them is the anticipated PEN-EPL7.

During the same event, photographers will also get a taste of the OM-D and Stylus series of cameras. Anyway, the PEN-EPL7 was expected to launch at any time for quite a while now.

After all, the camera has been leaked in its entire splendor in manual, revealing its specs. So, in a few days we’re going to be witnessing the advent of the E-PL6 successor.

Olympus has decided to hold the launching event before the kick start of one of the world’s major photographic events, Photokina 2014 which will take place next month.

Anyway, for those who are late arriving to the party, we’re going to tell you a few things about the known specs of the upcoming PEN-EPL7, so you know what to expect when the date comes.

The new Olympus device will arrive with 16MP Micro Four Thirds sensor that will work in concert with a TruePic VII processor and an autofocus system with 81 focus points.

The device will come without a viewfinder, but will offer a 3-inch tilting LCD screen positioned on the back to allow users to frame their shots. ISO sensitivity will range between 100 and 25,600 and shutter speeds will reach 1/4000th of a second and 60 seconds.

Quite important for being able to share your work with ease, the Olympus E-PL7 will come equipped with a Wi-Fi connection, so users will be able to pair it with a smartphone or tablet.

Last but not least, the camera will be able to shot in RAW format and to record videos at 1920 x 1080 resolution

We also have the rumored price of the upcoming camera to share with you. According to word on the street, the E-PL7 will arrive with a $650 / €477 price tag.
