Olympus has launched a pair of new digital cameras: X-775 (pictured) and X-785. Both come with similar mid-range specs: compact metal body, a 7.1 megapixels resolution, along with a 3x optical zoom, 4x digital zoom, a 2.5-inch LCD, 15 shooting modes and LEXAR 512 MB xD memory card.

Here's a complete list of the X-775 camera features:

-7.1 Megapixels -One button, one function design principle -3 x optical zoom (equivalent to 38-114mm on a 35mm model) -6.4 cm/2.5-inch LCD monitor -15 scene modes (Indoor, Fireworks, Self Portrait and much more) -xD Picture Card slot -Movie recording up to card capacity -Multi-language user interface with 25 languages -Supplied with Olympus Master Software

On top of the X-775 features, the X-885 will offer you higher ISO settings (up to ISO 640) to prevent image blur caused by camera shake, subject movement (or small earthquakes). With this mode, you can get great pictures even under low-light conditions (at least that's what Olympus says). It also ups the X775 with an image stabilization mode and a (cough) super macro mode. You can also take panoramic pictures using Olympus' specific software. Too bad you can't stitch the photos directly using only the camera's menu (maybe Olympus should check out Kodak's V 705 cool Stitch photos option).

Apparently, the X-885 and the X-775 are "double branded", passing also as Olympus FE-22 and FE-210 respectively (only available in limited regions and retailers worldwide). Both digital cameras are already available from European retailers at prices ranging between $200 and $260.
