A firmware update for the standard product will arrive in September

Back in late July rumors that Olympus has a massive firmware update scheduled for its E-M1 camera coming in September emerged.

The news is pretty important if true, since the camera will be bestowed with the capability of shooting 4K video, an aspect which will make a huge number of people happy.

Now a different source talking to Mirrorless Rumors claims Olympus is also prepping a refresh for their E-M1 MFT camera. I’m talking about a new version of the camera coming with a silver paint job. If we’re lucky, the new Silver Edition will come with 4K firmware already installed, making it 4K ready right from the box.

An official announcement is expected to be made on August 30, so sit tight and wait while the remaining days of this month go by.

At the same event, Olympus should pull the wraps off the E-PL7 camera too, so it’s going to be a busy end of the month for the camera gear manufacturer.

Not to mention, Photokina 2014 will kick start immediately afterwards and the company will have more interesting things to show us, like the new Olympus OM-D mirrorless camera which will come equipped with a 16MP Live MOS sensor.
