Caution: When the camera is upgraded to firmware 2.0 all settings are reset, except for the autofocus adjustments

Today, Olympus has rolled out the 2.0 firmware version developed for its E-M1 digital camera, which was announced along with the Silver body version of the same imaging device.

This new release includes several new changes and improvements that raise the device’s overall performance and stability, and can be applied using the producer’s Camera Updater available for Mac OS X platforms, as well as for Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, and 8.1 operating systems.

8 new functions added

In order to be clear, version 2.0 adds new features such as Keystone Compensation (Digital Shift), Tethered Shooting System (OLYMPUS capture), and Live Composite photography, and includes an old film effect in the movie effect.

In addition to that, the Aperture Preview gets an Aperture Lock function, the SCN benefits from a Panning Shot Shooting mode, and Vintage and Partial colors can now be selected from the art filter.

Moreover, Zoom In, Zoom Out, and Layout features, as well as Save, Temporary Save, and Resume functionalities have been added the hoto Story.

Numerous operability improvements

From the large number of enhancements stand out changes such as the 16 msec Image display time lag, the Live View 3x option, and the ability to use MF Assist in magnified frame position or exposure compensation (±3 EV) in HDR1 and HDR2 shooting.

Olympus’ latest release also improves Peaking display frame rate, includes support for OI.Share 2.4, allows the Super Control Panel to use double tapping, adds electronic zoom speed setting function, and brings several other changes that you can view on the description page of each download.

Don’t know how to install ?

When it comes to applying this release, simply download and run the proper package for your system platform, connect the camera to the computer via a USB cable, read and click “Next” at the next window, and wait while the updater searches for the 2.0 version.

When the new firmware has been found, click the “Update” button, then “Yes,” read and agree with the Software License Agreement, and wait for the new software to be installed. Finally, when the LCD displays “OK,” click “Next” on the updater, and disconnect the USB cable.
