Olympus fans, listen to this! The camera gear maker is expected to hold a special event where it will finally introduce the 7-14mm f/2.8 PRO lens officially, after revealing their existence back in February 2014.

According to information obtained by 43 Rumors, the new wide-angle zoom could cost up to $1,799 / €1,321, a price similar to that of the Four Thirds version Olympus built for its DSLR line. But the newer version will have full-stop faster.

Back in February, Olympus pulled two new lenses for Micro Four Third cameras out of the box, but the official announcement was postponed for a later date.

The Japanese company also said the 7-14mm f/2.8 PRO and 300mm f/4 PRO lenses would be rolled out on the market in 2015. But now the source is claiming the latter is being prepped for the official launch and it will even ship out before 2014 comes to an end.

The new optic will provide a 35mm focal length equivalent for 14-28mm. What’s more, the new lens will be M.Zuiko Digital branded, but this part we already know due to photos provided by the company itself.

The new lens should come with a weather sealed construction and that translates into its ability to survive dust, splashes and freezing temperatures.
