Olivia Wilde says she went for the androgynous look, downplayed her hotness for “Tron: Legacy”

Several men’s magazines have already crowned (repeatedly) Olivia Wilde as the hottest woman on earth so there’s no disputing her good looks. For “Tron: Legacy,” she tried to downplay her hotness, she says, to have audiences focus more on the character.

The “House M.D.” alum reveals in a recent interview with E! Online that she didn’t want her Quorra to be considered gorgeous first and foremost, since the emphasis must fall on how brave she is.

Because of this, she tried to focus on her acting and suppress her hotness, if you will. As E! puts it, since this is Wilde we’re talking – plus a latex body suit – her attempt was a major fail.

“It would have been easier to just let her be the temptress of the Tron world and slink around like a cat,” Wilde says for E! when asked about what she means when she says she downplayed her sensuality.

“I thought it’d be much more interesting if she was [hot] despite herself. She’s a warrior, so she’s very athletic, but she has no desire to seduce,” the actress adds.

Olivia also spent a lot of time thinking about how she’d portray the warrior Quorra in a way that would make her both believable and human. In the end, she realized to whom she must relate to to bring Quorra to life.

“Very early on I called [director Joseph Kosinski] and said, ‘I know who Quorra is. She’s Joan of Arc.’ We agreed that she was Joan of Arc because she was this unlikely warrior, this child who led an army, who had this very rare combination of strength and innocence,” the actress says for the same media outlet.

“After I discovered the Joan of Arc connection, I asked if she could be kind of androgynous. […] So… maybe she could just look like a boy!” Olivia adds. This probably explains her short ‘do in the film, of which not many fans are that fond of at the moment.

“Tron: Legacy” arrives in theaters in the US on December 17. Over the weekend, we were telling you that word in the industry has it talk for a follow-up is already underway at Disney.
