While the first half of 2010 has been kind of slow as far as the launch (or at least announcement) of new Internet tablets is concerned, things changed radically in the second half, just about everyone rolling out such a product, the latest company to join the fray being the famous Olivetti, who's apparently going to roll out an Android tablet called OliPad at some point in the near future.

It's quite possible that many of you have never heard about Olivetti, and that's because the Italian company went through a pretty bad patch over the past decade or so, when its personal computer business failed due to the very serious competition posed by some of the other big names in the industry.

However, before that, Olivetti was a pretty big name, producing typewriters, calculators, ribbon printers, and many other pieces of office equipment.

Now, back to the topic at hand.

According to a report by TechnologyReview, it seems that Olivetti, now under the ownership of Telecom Italia, is planning to launch an Android tablet called the OliPad, that will target both enterprise customers and the general public.

Unfortunately, very little information regarding what we can expect from the OliPad has been provided, apart from the fact that it will sport a 10-inch multi-touch display and will run the Android operating system (no idea what version, though).

Olivetti will be putting a major focus on applications that can help those in the enterprise market, because, via the Olivetti Application Warehouse, the tablet will see many applications that are geared specifically towards small or medium-sized enterprises.

Furthermore, the tablet will work with integrated WiFi and cellular connections, while the price is said to be somewhere around $400, although availability information remains a mystery (hopefully, we'll see this thing go official in early 2011).
