The content offered to buyers of Grand Theft Auto 5's Special or Collector's Editions on PS3 and Xbox 360 will be available for free in the PC, PS4, and Xbox One versions of the game for those who got them on the old consoles, and for a price for regular players of the game.

GTA 5 broke sales records when it launched last September for the PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms, with tens of millions of fans flocking to buy the game for the old consoles, both in its regular version as well as in the Special or Collector's editions, which had plenty of bonus content to make it worth the investment.

Yesterday, developer Rockstar Games confirmed that PS3 or Xbox 360 owners who get the game on PC, PS4, or Xbox One would be treated to a wide variety of bonus items and content in the new versions of the open world shooter, from extra vehicles to new activities and much more.

Old exclusive content is being offered to all new owners

Now, Rockstar reveals on the official newswire that all the Special and Collector's Edition content will be available inside all versions of GTA 5 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

There's a catch, however, as while owners of the game's Special or Collector's versions on PS3 or Xbox 360 will get those items and activities for free, regular owners will have to buy them with in-game cash.

"If you purchased the Special Edition or the Collector’s Edition last year, when you upgrade to one of the new systems, you will automatically have those items unlocked and accessible," Rockstar confirms.

"Furthermore, if you missed out on your chance to buy a CE or SE the last time around, we will also make all of that content available for all players on PS4, Xbox One and PC to earn and acquire with in-game cash (original SE and CE owners will not have to spend any in-game cash to obtain them, they will automatically be accessible upon upgrade)."

Among the special content that will be added to the game is the Stunt Plane Trials activity, the bonus outfits and tattoos, the .50 Pistol, the Bullpup shotgun or the hammer, as well as the Khamelion electric car for the GTA Online multiplayer mode.

GTA Online also supports 30 players in missions

Rockstar also explains that the new 30-player limit in the GTA Online mode covers the actual missions, meaning it won't be available just in the Free Roam mode. Missions with a lower player limit, however, won't be able to take advantage of the increased cap.

GTA 5 launches for PS4 and Xbox One in November and on PC in early 2015.
