14 DAY TRIAL // Russian pianist and singer Oksana Grigorieva, formerly known as the woman for whom Mel Gibson left his wife of three decades, has finally opened up about the split and confirmed it for the media. However, for the time being, Oksana will stick to the “official version,” but she has promised more details on the breakup will emerge soon enough, as RT Prime Time Russia can confirm.
As we also reported a while ago, Oksana is now back home in Russia, where she’s singing for a good cause – a children’s charity. She also did some press on the occasion and, as expected, questions about the split came pouring. For the time being, though, she would like the world to focus on her music and her charitable endeavors – in return, she can promise the day will come when she’ll talk about the end of her and Mel’s 3-year romance.
“I am anxious to talk about children; it is more important for me than my relations with Mel,” Oksana said, stressing that she always wanted to be able to help children through music. “But if you want to know I can tell you that after three years of relationship we have split up – suddenly and recently. Unfortunately, I cannot give you the reason. But you will find out everything quite soon. Here is the official version: We split up by mutual consent and we will raise our daughter together. She is currently with my mother in my Los Angeles home,” she added.
Of course, breaking up from Gibson doesn’t mean she’s not aware of the kind of good he did her by supporting her in her music career. “Mel himself has directed several video clips for my songs. He has written lyrics for two of my songs and has always greatly supported me. He also gave me an incredible opportunity to become a producer of my own album. It doesn’t happen a lot these days,” she added with a tinge of regret.
As we also reported while the two were still an item, Oksana was always aware of how much being in a relationship with Mel helped her career. It’s not so much that he shamelessly shoved her in people’s face but rather that he invested a lot of time, effort and, most importantly, money in her attempt at making a name for herself as a singer.
