No one knows for sure why this is the case

Samsung is currently shipping out its latest and greatest Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge flagships to consumers around the world, and even if it hasn't been long since the phones got released, users are reporting some strange activity going on.

One of the best things about having an Android phone is that Google lets you do a search query from virtually anywhere. All you have to do is turn on your phone and say “Ok Google.” It’s fast and super handy when you want to quickly find the answer to something. But as it turns out, not all Android users have this feature at their disposal.

An increasing number of Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge users have taken to Android forums and Reddit to complain about the mysterious removal of “Ok Google” from everywhere.

However, it seems that the feature hasn't been eradicated completely, as users are saying they can still access “Ok Google” from within the Google search app. But that kind of takes away the whole idea of using voice search from virtually anywhere.

The feature was available, originally

Some Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge users claim that at launch the “Ok Google” feature was present and worked from anywhere just fine. However, recently, owners have begun noticing its absence.

For the moment, no one knows exactly who or what is to blame for the disappearance, but there are a few theories.

Right off the bat, we have to think of Samsung. After all, the Korean giant’s version of “Ok Google,” called S-Voice, is up and running and works perfectly in the background from virtually anywhere.

Another possible scenario is that when Samsung rolled out the latest update for the two phones, it made sure it removed the feature in order to preserve battery life, which makes sense. In our review of the Galaxy S6, we found that short battery life was one major negative point of the new device, so Samsung might be desperately looking to squeeze out more juice.

Yet another theory indicates that, somehow, the 64-bit Exynos processor is to blame here. All possible causes aside though, one thing is sure, there is no “Ok Google” on the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge anymore.
