Just not for the environment and wild animals, one can only assume

Energy company Kinder Morgan has a rather interesting take on oil spills. Long story short, it thinks that, despite the fact that people keep badmouthing them, they can actually prove beneficial. Just not for the environment and wildlife, that is.

According to Tree Hugger, the company is now looking to increase the capacity of one of its pipelines, i.e. one that travels from Alberta to Burnaby, close to Vancouver.

The problem is that, before the company can move forward with these plans, it needs the blessing of Canada's National Energy Board. To this end, it was this past Tuesday that Kinder Morgan submitted its proposal to the federal government.

By the looks of it, part of this proposal reads as follows: “Pipeline spills can have both positive and negative effects on local and regional economies, both in the short- and long-term.”

In case this statement has left you feeling a tad confused, fear not, the energy company details its opinion, and explains that “Spill response and cleanup creates business and employment opportunities for affected communities, regions, and cleanup service providers.”

Well, in this case, maybe we should all just grab a pickaxe and go about destroying whatever pipeline we chance to come across. Better yet, maybe we should start a cleanup service company before doing so. That way, we can make sure we are among the first responders and cash in on the damage we inflict on the environment.
