Oh, the Broadband Problems…

Brits crazy over the customer service

The age of Internet life is nigh (if it's not here already)! The percentage of time people spend on the web is growing every day, as the services offered through what I consider to be the greatest invention of the XXth century grow in number and usability. If you want groceries, you first check Google Maps to see where you could get them, then you check out Street View for a parking spot and then you tune in to a site that tells you if there's a traffic jam on your route there. Or, you could just go online and access a site that delivers anything you want at home.

All in all, it's much more convenient to use the Internet for anything because
of the simple fact that you don't have to move your behind from your comfortable chair. But when the service the ISP should deliver is of poor quality, all the above just crumbles to dust before your eyes and monitor. That's why customer service is very important in the industry.

A study conducted by O2.co.uk, quoted by WebUser.com, found that one quarter of the Internet users in the United Kingdom were frustrated with the support they received from their providers, while a fifth of the total number questioned reporting having to contact tech support at least three times before somebody actually did something to help them.

Sally Cowdry, the marketing director from O2 UK, told the cited source that "It's clear from previous studies and backed up by this research that UK broadband customers have low overall satisfaction and are not having an easy ride when it comes to set up, maintenance and customer support of their service."

This is also the age of short ranged attention and because of that, any trivial activity that requires the attention span to be larger than expected will only drive people mad. No wonder anger management is the latest fashion nowadays. If you have a personal problem, you know you can solve it by yourself, but if you rely on somebody to get the job done… that's really frustrating.
