Hooray! The Holidays are coming! This means not only Santa, presents and cookies, but also a lot of snow, skiing, snowboarding and more. And we all know we have to be in vogue for all these winter activities. The latest trend in ski suits is the solar powered lights stuffed in clothes.

I know, this ain't a designer's first attempt to put LEDs in clothes, but it's definitely Willy Bogner's first time. The fashion designer used this pattern in recent fashion collection. What's really original is the fact that he inserted LEDs in ski suits. And the result was not bad at all!

The cool outfits were first presented in Munich during the city's bid to host the Winter Olympics in 2018. But, since you're probably wondering whose responsible of the technology behind these weird clothes, I found a single answer to that: the famous lighting company Osram.

As written on their website, Osram used the cutting-edge LED technology for two outfits. However, it was "Bogner on the outside, OSRAM on the inside, that's what gives these ski suits their sparkle. What look like dots of light to an observer are actually the result of high-tech engineering."

Moreover, the makers claim the "Solar Light Suit" is fitted with twelve brightly illuminated, solar-powered OSRAM Golden DRAGON LEDs on both the front and the rear as well as on the sleeves.

Apparently, all these LED light sources can boast a particularly high luminous efficacy along with a low space requirement. Osram explains that all "Private Space Suits" use flexible, separable LED strips that illuminates in red and white. The lights wear the LINEARlight Flex name.

"There is no question that light will assume a whole host of different functions in the future that are quite inconceivable to the modern consumer. For our technicians, the Future Outfits for Willy Bogner were another excellent chance to demonstrate just what our LED-modules can do, even the face of an unusual, futuristic challenge," Florian Hockel, applications engineer at OSRAM, explains.

All in all, this new trend manages to mix gadgetry and fashion in a chic way! Works for me!
