2012's Mobile World Congress, the most important mobile event of the year, is now over.

We had the chance to see some highly appealing devices at the event, both new and old phones, as well as high-end and mid-level.

Among them, we can count the Samsung Galaxy S II, a smartphone that was named the best in the world.

The GSM Association awarded Samsung’s flagship handset, and also named Samsung the best device manufacturer of the year. Samsung managed to sell over 97 million smartphones last year.

“We are pleased to receive this honor from GSMA and believe that it’s a testament to Samsung’s innovation, quality products, and attention to consumer preferences,” Samsung’s mobile boss JK Shin said in response to the awards.

In the coming months, the handset vendor is expected to release the successor of Galaxy S II. It might hit shelves as the Galaxy S III.
