After almost three months of testing, Twitter for Blackberry smartphones is finally available as a stable version and can be downloaded from Blackberry App World. RIM stated that it took so long to release a final version because it wanted to receive full feedback from its customers regarding the various stages of development. Anyway, Blackberry users are now able to install the highly-acclaimed Twitter client on their device, if they meet the requirements.

The application requires activation with data plan, including Internet service browsing capabilities, a BlackBerry handset with at least 64-MB of built-in application memory (with at least 900 KB available), and BlackBerry Device Software Version 4.5 or higher.

Twitter for BlackBerry smartphones offers users the chance to stay connected to multiple instant messaging client accounts at the same time. By using the application, you will be able to get your Direct Messages as soon as they arrive; reply to Tweets, re-Tweet and send Direct Messages; post a link from your BlackBerry Browser; take a funny picture and upload it; search for, and type @Usernames quickly with Auto Complete; edit re-Tweets with the Quote Tweet feature; View profiles from anywhere in the app with Go to User.

Blackberry users have been able to download the app since last night, when it was rolled out. There are two ways you can get your Twitter client to run on your device, through Blackberry's App World store or through your device browser. In case you decide to go for the latter, you can visit www.blackberry.com/twitterdownload or simply fill in on RIM's website an email address associated with your smartphone and a download link will be sent to you.
