The first official trailer for the fifth “Resident Evil” film has just dropped at Yahoo! Movies. Called “Retribution,” it will see the return of Alice and her never-ending fight to escape flesh-eating zombies. Though received with very poor reviews by the critics, “Afterlife,” the previous installment, went on to become the highest crossing film in the franchise, which would explain why a fifth was greenlit almost instantly.
“Retribution” will also be in 3D and, as you can see from the trailer above – granted you make it past the 20 seconds of Sony product placement – it will be just as cool and stylish as the other installments in the franchise.
And just as unrealistic looking as well.
One thing that totally bugs about the trailer, aside from the Sony ads, is the “Inception” meets “Tron” music. Whatever happened to the “RE” theme?
“Resident Evil: Retribution” will be out in theaters on September 15, 2012.
