StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty is the sequel to the 1998 video game by Blizzard Entertainment, StarCraft. Developed for concurrent release on Windows and Mac OS X, StarCraft II is split into three installments: the base game with the subtitle Wings of Liberty, expansion pack Heart of the Swarm, and expansion pack Legacy of the Void.

StarCraft II is set in the 26th century in a distant part of our galaxy, and revolves around three species: the Terrans (human exiles from Earth), the Zerg (a race of insectoid genetic assimilators), and the Protoss (a species with vast psionic power). Wings of Liberty will have a specific focus on the Terrans. Focusing on the Zerg and Protoss are the expansions Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void.
