There are quite a number of tablets on the market or on the way, and it seems that a particular model from ASUS has finally gotten an actual shipment date after having already been set up for pre-order.

One could safely say that, on the new tablet market, Android and ARM have, so far, held the field in a tight grip.

This is because x86 chips aren't at the level of ARM in terms of power efficiency (yet) and due to the fact that Windows 7 was not designed for slates.

Still, since Wintel tablets have PC-like capabilities, they are still expected to show some sales on the enterprise market, though consumers shouldn't prove totally against them either.

Regardless, ASUS has had the Eee Slate EP121 in the works for a while, and it seems that prospective buyers can finally rest easy knowing for sure when shipments will start.

Previously, ASUS had only said that the Eee Slate EP121 would come near the start of April, but at least now something specific is known.

In the US, the device is listed with a price of $1,099 and said to be out of stock. There is no mention of any sort of delivery date.

It is in the UK where it was given a shipment date, having been put up for order at the price of £999.99 (the equivalent of $1,627). Shipments should start on April 10.

This price is quite steep for a tablet, especially with the iPad 2 selling for around $500, but enterprise users should know what to do with it.

It does, after all, have a 12.1-inch display (1,280 x 800 pixels), a 1.86 GHz Intel Core i5-470UM CPU, 64 GB storage (SSD) and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

What's more, the video tasks are handled by the built-in Intel HD graphics while the amount of memory is a solid 4 GB.
