Yesterday, speculation had it that the “New Moon” trio, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, would be making a special appearance at this month’s MTV Movie Awards to introduce the first footage from the much anticipated production. In what can only be seen as a better piece of news for fans, just a couple of hours ago, the first official poster for the film was leaked on the Internet.

According to reports, Summit Entertainment planned to surprise fans with the one-sheet by releasing it without much ado and then simply stand back and enjoy the ride. While it is not yet known how come the poster made it out and onto the net, there is no denying that it did, as also did the cat out of Summit’s bag. Because of the leak, the movie studio had to admit to the upcoming release by urging the biggest “Twilight” communities not to publish the poster until it was officially out in just a couple of hours (meaning, today).

“Summit has just informed us that the one-sheet for ‘New Moon’ will debut tomorrow (Tuesday) at 7 AM Eastern time (12 PM UK time, 4 AM Pacific time)! It will appear in newspapers across the country, but they’ll be e-mailing us a digital copy of it at 7 AM.” Twilight Source writes. The Twilight Lexicon, described as the only community where all that concerns “Twilight” is to be found, states the same, thus confirming that the poster is, indeed, the real one.

Unlike what fans got to see until now with the fan-made character posters that, while being undeniably good, were not the real deal, this is the official poster and it can’t but please fans, it is being said. For starters, it plays on the conflict that comes with the rise of the love triangle Edward / Bella / Jacob, while also stressing a point that Robert Pattinson made a while back as regards his character’s onscreen time, namely that Edward will not be pushed aside.

“It’s as close as possible to the book. [In the film] it’s an illusion when he appears. I think if you do it with voiceover as they do in the book, it would end up being quite cheesy. But it’s very subtle, my presence. It’s actually quite scary because Bella is kind of going a little bit nuts. I was worried about having too much presence because you really need that relationship with Jacob to drive to the third and fourth books. You really need that triangle.” Pattinson was saying in a recent interview about Edward’s presence in the second film.
