Developer Mojang has announced that this year's edition of Minecon, the massive Minecraft convention, will be postponed to next year's spring.

Fans of the popular open-world building and survival game were getting worried over the lack of information regarding the convention, as last year all the information related to the event was already available by this time.

The company has not provided any reason for the postponement of Minecon, but it has assured everyone that it will still be taking place in London, as initially announced.

The news comes from a Mojang blog post by COO Vu Bui, apparently suggesting that the decision was made due to a problem with the venue.

"We want to make sure we can follow through with the event and we never want people to start planning to attend something that might not happen," Bui explains.

Mojang is still eager to see players come to another Minecon, and has promised that their fans will receive more information in the coming months.

"I've been getting a lot of questions about MINECON lately, because before this time last year everyone knew the date and location and ticket info for MINECON 2013. I wanted to let everyone know that it won't be until some time in 2015. I'm shooting to have it in the spring in London!" explains Bui.
