Google+ is gaining quite a following and it's adding more and more users in the US but also around the world. So much so that it's becoming harder for all of them to communicate, the language barrier is present as ever.

But Google is making it easier to understand what any Google+ user is saying with Google Translate for Google+, a new Chrome extension that does exactly what the name says.

With Google Translate for Google+, any post or comment on the site can be instantly translated into any of the more than 50 languages currently supported by Google.

"We've heard from a lot of Google+ users wanting an easier way to understand posts written in other languages, so we thought we should do something about that," Josh Estelle, senior software engineer at Google, wrote.

"We just introduced on Google+, a new Chrome extension, Google Translate for Google+, that uses the power of Google Translate to automatically translate any post or comment into more than 50 languages," he announced.

This is nothing that users couldn't do by themselves, but the extension has several unique advantages. For example, the Google Translate website doesn't work great with mixed language content.

The translation feature built into Google Chrome fares even worse in this department. It's also rather inflexible. The extension fixes all of the problems and also translates on-demand, enabling you to see the original content when you want to.

"Once you've installed the extension, refresh Google+ and you'll see Translate links next to posts and comments. Click the links to instantly see translations," Google explained.

The extension is already available in the Chrome Web Store, but Google labels it as experimental as it's still not sure how to integrate translation features into the site.
