Two weeks have passed since Verizon revealed the change log of the upcoming Gingerbread update for the DROID Incredible smartphone and the upgrade has yet to be rolled out.

Luckily, the official Android 2.3 for the original HTC DROID Incredible has just leaked and is now available for download, courtesy to the guys over at AndroidPolice.

According to AndroidPolice, this seems to be a final build, as it shares the same version number from Verizon's documentation (4.06.605.2), as well as the same baseband (2.15.10.07.07), which means that the carrier will deploy it very soon.

Furthermore, the ROM leaked in the form of an RUU file, which means that it will wipe all the information stored on the phone and it will unroot it.

It is advised to make a back-up of all the sensitive data on the phone before flashing the Gingerbread RUU file.

In addition to bringing the firmware to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) the new update will add the following changes:

- MMS Messages send correctly; - Successfully play audio files from a message; - Send Vcard through SMS; - Internet connections via Bluetooth now enabled; - VZ Navigator now operates over Wi-Fi; - Change songs in the Music widget by tapping the forward button; - Camera functions successfully without inserting SD card.

Those who do not want to wait until Verizon pushes the update OTA (over the air) can manually download the Gingerbread RUU file here.

The file should be renamed to PB31IMG.zip and then copied on the root of the SD card. Then users should simply boot into the bootloader and flash it.

Obviously, it is recommended to wait for the official build to be pushed by Verizon, but those who cannot wait should know that they risk bricking their devices during the update procedure.
