Bungie is preparing for the debut of the massive beta test scheduled for its upcoming online multiplayer first-person shooter Destiny, commencing with a facelift of the official game website.

After a couple of hours of maintenance, Bungie's official Internet home is back online, looking sharper than ever, packed with relevant information regarding the beta kicking off tomorrow.

The new website also delivers some new details on Destiny's companion app, which will become available to users once the beta starts later this week.

In addition to the mobile app, Bungie.net will be the main hub for players looking for social options, such as Clan or Group creation and management, and will also include pretty much everything you need to get you started and immersed in Bungie's upcoming shared-world experience.

Destiny's beta starts tomorrow, on July 17, for PlayStation users, and on July 23 for Xbox players, and runs through July 27. The final version of the game is scheduled to drop on September 9, worldwide, for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One platforms.

Note that some limited HDD variants of the PS3 and Xbox 360 are incompatible with the beta due to its humongous physical drive requirements (over 12 GB), and that Xbox Live Gold and PlayStation Plus accounts (trial or otherwise) are needed in order to enjoy the beta.
