Microsoft has recently launched Office Mobile for iPhone, a new iOS application that allows Apple users who purchased an Office 365 subscription to create and edit documents on the go.

Gartner Research vice president Carolina Milanesi believes that Microsoft is actually trying to show everyone that its own Surface RT remains the most productive tablet on the market, especially because it comes with a full Office package.

Microsoft made Office for iPhone a rather limited app, while an iPad version is yet to be released, so the only way to work with documents on the go remains a Windows tablet.

“Microsoft has not made it available to iPad yet so that they have a chance to establish themselves in the tablet market first,” Milanesi was quoted as saying by V3.

Microsoft is also believed to be working on the second-generation Surface tablet that could see daylight as soon as this month during the BUILD developer conference.
