Redmond-based software company Microsoft has just made Windows Mobile phone users' life a little more pleasant. The reason is the launch of a beta version of Office Mobile 2010, the next major flavor of Microsoft's software solution. Available for download for free from the Windows Marketplace for Mobile, the new Office Mobile 2010 Beta comes with a series of new features, improved functionality, and other more.

Here's how the new application is described on its Marketplace page: “Microsoft Office Mobile 2010 brings the powerful Microsoft Office 2010 tools you use every day at work, home, or school, to the screen of your Windows phone with rich interfaces especially designed for small devices. Features: - View and edit your Microsoft Office documents with confidence. - Stay connected to work from anywhere with SharePoint Workspace Mobile. - Use PowerPoint Mobile as a presentation aid.”

However, there are also a series of other benefits that users will be able to enjoy with Office Mobile 2010, Microsoft says. Among them, we can count an intuitive, touch-friendly user interface, an easy-to-use search feature, formatting tools similar to those in the desktop version of Office, fast update for Excel workbooks, Microsoft OneNote 2010 synchronization, Outlook Mobile 2010, and copy and paste features.

However, since the available version of Office Mobile 2010 is now a beta one, there are some things that users should be aware of, as described by Microsoft: “By installing this application, you agree that: This Microsoft Office Mobile 2010 Beta will be disabled on April 5th, 2010. Prior versions of Microsoft Office Mobile that were installed after the phone was purchased will be uninstalled. You will need to re-install that software according to the instructions of your original purchase. If Microsoft Office Mobile came pre-installed on your phone, it will not be affected. The WINDOWS MARKETPLACE FOR MOBILE CUSTOMER SERVICE AGREEMENT applies to your use of this beta application.

It remains to be seen when the final variant of the application will be released into the wild, though there are great chances that an RC version would surface just before the beta variant expires. In the meantime, take a look at the first image below, for it is said to show the Windows Mobile 7 Office Mobile UI. The user interface has been spotted on Microsoft's website, where it might have mistakenly appeared.
