Today, education can take full advantage of cloud services, and IT professionals and leaders in education often turn to this area to ensure they offer students all they need for increased efficiency.

By choosing cloud services, they also make sure that institutions benefit from both cost and time saving.

However, there are also a series of aspects that need to be taken into consideration when it comes to choosing a service provider, and a recent blog post from Microsoft offers some more info on the matter.

In their attempt to find the provider that would help them get the best out of their cloud services for education, IT professionals and leaders in education should consider the following, says Microsoft: - How quickly will the service be recovered in a major incident? What are the SLA targets? - Portability. How easy will it be to move your data? Or share it? - Does your Cloud provider offer security for the service? - Do you have enough bandwidth capacity? Colleagues may be accessing multiple services at one time - What options are available for offline productivity?

The Redmond-based software giant also points out that its Office 365 for education offering can provide great cost savings for all people.

“As well as fulfilling the points above, we also want to be cost efficient for education institutions to use. And that’s where we use the power of the cloud to bring these tools together in Office 365 for education,” Microsoft’s Rosanna Clarke notes in the aforementioned blog post.

“We have SharePoint Online and the Office Web Apps for true anywhere access, and we integrate this with Exchange Online, and Lync Online to bring it all together.”

Microsoft is constantly working on making sure that its cloud services provide the best experience out there, and that they also offer lower costs when it comes to managing hardware or negotiating versioning and upgrades.

Moreover, the company’s offering can scale to meet the needs of both students and teachers. “Office 365 for education represents everything we know about the productivity tools people love to use, available at scale in the cloud,” Rosanna Clarke concludes.
