14 DAY TRIAL // Now that Microsoft has made Office 2010 RTM available to the public, it falls on customers to make sure that their products are kept up to date. But the Redmond company is making it extremely simple for end users and businesses that embraced the latest iteration of the Office productivity suite to find the Service Packs and CU updates for Office products.
Hosted on TechNet, the Update Center for Office makes it simple for customers to find the latest Service Pack, latest Public Update, latest Cumulative Update and general guidance for Office 2010.
At the same time, the online resources (Update Center for Microsoft Office, Office Servers, and Related Products) hosted on TechNet are not limited to Office 2010, but in fact cover all Office releases, as long as they are still supported by Microsoft.
“Find and manage updates in one place for Office, Forms Server, Groove Server, PerformancePoint Server, Project Portfolio Server, Project Server, Search Server, SharePoint Server, SharePoint Foundation, Windows SharePoint Services, and FAST Search Server for SharePoint,” Microsoft informs.
Of course, with the Office 2010 having hit General Availability just a few months ago, for the time being the company did not release any major upgrades, but there are updates and CUs already available.
According to Microsoft, “this page tracks all updates to all supported versions of:
- Microsoft Office suites
- Microsoft Office desktop programs (including Access, Excel, InfoPath, OneNote, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, Publisher, SharePoint Designer, SharePoint Workspace, Visio, and Word)
- Microsoft Office servers (including SharePoint Server, Forms Server, Groove Server, PerformancePoint Server, Project Portfolio Server, and Project Server)
- Office Web Apps
- Search Server
- SharePoint Foundation and Windows SharePoint Services
- FAST Search Server for SharePoint.”
For example, Microsoft enumerated the refreshes for: Office 2010 suites, Project 2010, Visio 2010, Office 2010 servers, Office Web Apps, Search Server 2010, SharePoint 2010 Products, and FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint.
