14 DAY TRIAL // In certain scenarios the default language of Office 2010 is not sufficient for customers, especially companies that employ workers from various countries around the world.
This is why, just as it is the case for Windows, Microsoft allows for multiple languages to be used with the same copy of its productivity suite.
Businesses can grab the Office Multilanguage Pack (MLP) and Proofing Tools from the software giant, and ensure that copies of Office 2010 in their organizations are tailored to the specific linguistic needs of the employees.
The Office Multilanguage Pack and Proofing Tools are available for download only to volume license customers. Companies that have inked VL agreements with Microsoft for Office 2010 can head over to the Volume Licensing Service Center and grab the downloads.
“There are 2 Office 2010 MLP downloads: CD and DVD. If you want the Multilanguage Pack and/or Proofing Tools, choose the DVD download.
“The CD download only includes the individual single language packs for each of the languages and does not include the Multilanguage Pack or Proofing Tools,” revealed a member of the Office team.
The software giant is also providing a set of guides designed to help IT professionals get around the linguistic resources.
Admins can head over to TechNet and check out ‘Plan for multilanguage deployment of Office 2010’ (here), ‘Companion proofing languages for Office 2010’ (here), ‘Mixed language versions of Office 2010’ (here) and ‘Customize language setup and settings for Office 2010’ (here).
“The language-neutral design of Office 2010 helps simplify the deployment of Office products in multiple languages. Instead of creating a series of installations, you enable Setup to coordinate a single installation of multiple language versions.
“All language-specific components for a particular language are contained in a Microsoft Office 2010 Language Pack. Each Office 2010 Language Pack includes language-specific folders for all Office 2010 products that are available in that language,” Microsoft stated.
