On July 13th 2009, Microsoft started sending out invitations to the testers accepted in the Technology Preview program of the next iteration of the Office System. As was the case with Windows 7, Office 2010, formerly codenamed Office 14, also leaked out of Redmond and made it into the wild. In fact, the first leaks of Office 2010 came months ago, just as Microsoft was announcing plans to debut the first Technology Preview of Office 2007's successor in July 2009. At this point in time, users who were not accepted in the Office 2010 Technology Preview can grab the bits from torrent trackers, warez websites and additional illegal sources.

Office 2010 Build 14.0.4302.1000 is the leaked copy of the productivity suite according to Wzor. The bits available for download in the wild offer both the 32-bit and the 64-bit version of Officer 2010. But of course there's a reason why Build 14.0.4302.1000 is labeled a Community Technology Preview and is a release aimed for a limited audience.

Users need to understand that, for the time being, Office 2010 still has quite a long way to go before it reaches Beta stage. The quality of the CTP is considered inferior to that of Beta 1, which will be a public release later this year. The initial leaks of Office 2010 were made available in mid-May 2009. Shortly after the bits were leaked, Microsoft warned users that some releases were infected with malware.

Those who choose to disregard the dangers associated with downloading software from untrusted sources will be getting the Ultimate version of Office 2010. On July 13th, Microsoft officially released the first bits of Office 2010 to web. The technology preview involves not only Office 2010 but also SharePoint Server 2010, Visio 2010 and Project 2010.
