Office 2010 Beta the Largest in Microsoft’s History, Over 9 Million Downloads

The testing program for the latest iteration of the Office System was also the largest in Microsoft’s history the company revealed.

It appears that the Beta development milestone of Office 2010 has been downloaded in excess of 9 million times, which means that the product had even more testers than Windows 7.

In this regard, there were millions of customers running Office 2010 Beta even ahead of the product being released to manufacturing and launched worldwide.

At this point in time, the Beta Build of Office 2010 has expired. The pre-release software was time-bombed with October 31st, 2010 as the final deadline.

Users can still download free Office 2010 from Microsoft. The Redmond company is offering no less than three free evaluation versions of the productivity suite which can be used for a total of 90 days each.

According to data released by Microsoft, Office 2010 is also the fastest selling version of Office in history.

There have already been 6 million sold copies of Office 2010 since it was released in June 2010.

Microsoft is already looking to the future and has started development of Office 2010 Service Pack 1.

Office 2010 SP1 Beta is not yet available to testers, but the company has already sent invitations to participants in older Beta testing programs for the productivity suite.

It appears that office 2010 SP1 Beta is planned for launch ahead of the end of 2010.

There are additional statistics that the software giant shared with the public, including:
