Confirmation of a new component in Microsoft’s next generation Office System has already been provided, albeit from third-party sources and not by the company.

Dubbed Moorea, the new Office 15 application is featured in the latest leaked screenshots involving the next major iteration of the Office productivity suite.

I included the new leaked images below (courtesy of Windows8Italia), but users should also make sure to check out the first article I wrote on Office 15 Moorea.

Despite the latest leaked information, there are no new extra details about what Moorea is exactly, its functionality, features, capabilities, intended audience, etc.

It does seem that with this new Office 15 app Microsoft is attempting to provide customers with a global aggregator of content designed to deal with text, video, and audio under the "Everything you need in one place..." promise.

Office 15 itself is at a very early stage of the development process, Milestone 2, reportedly. As such Moorea should also be considered an embryonic project that still needs some development work.

The leaked screenshots included in this article come from Office 15 M2 Build 15.0.2703.1000. But only the screenshots managed to make their way in the wild so far, no bits for the time being at least.

There are additional details from Build 15.0.2703.1000 shared with the public, some of them quite interesting, revealing new features that the Redmond company has already packed into Office 15.

Office 15 is still years away, and as such consumers should remain focused on Office 2010, especially since this particular release of the product is also hitting a major step in its evolution next month.

Microsoft is on the brink of offering Office 2010 users better experiences with the delivery of the first upgrade for the productivity suite. Office 2010 SP1 RTM will become available for download at the end of June 2011.
